Circles of Peace: Mothers of Sorrow & Peace Garden Dedication - 31st World Congress of Poets & City of Kensoha
As part of the 2nd Annual Circels of Peace, this event will include commissioned poetry readings by world class American Poets including acclaimed Afaa Michael Weaver, Professor of Simmons College (Boston), who is considered "the modern day Walt Whitman"; multi award-winning Dr. Elma Photikarm, Editor of Poems of the World journal (Palatine, Illinois); and Dr. William Marr, Ph.D., of Chicago, considered "the finest American poet writing in Chinese today".
The event will also include musical performances featuring Ashley Dennis, Miss Kenosha 2011, and Laurie Lewis, an outstanding Gospel singer from Racine. Stacey Mia has written several songs, which will be featured at the event. Keynote Speaker will be Prasad Gollanapalli, Trustee of the Gandhi-King Foundation.
The Kenosha International Noble Garden of Peace has not been built yet, but we are actively seeking corporate sponsorship, as well as individual donations and brick sales for funding. However, the Garden's purpose to be a place of peaceful assembly for the expression of poetry, prayer and the highest aspirations of the human spirit shall be accomplished with this first of many poetry events at the site.
