National Day of Prayer


The 62nd Annual National Day of Prayer
will be observed on Thursday May 2 starting at 11:30am outside City Hall, 730 Washington Avenue in Racine. 


Prelude music and the National Anthem will be sung by recording artist Cheryl McCraryand opening prayer by Pastor Tony Ballistrari, followed by Mayor John Dickert
reading the city proclamation. Special guest Jeff Kaeppeler, father of Laura Kaeppeler, Miss America 2012.  Prayer will be lead by various city officials and military personnel including Cornelius Gordon Chaplain of the Racine Youth Offenders Correctional Facility, Alderman Jim Kaplan, Stuart Nelson United States Marines, Thomas Ginski playing a Civil War Union soldier and other representatives.


Children will be able to participate by reciting the “Pledge of Allegiance.” There will be a moment of silence in remembrance for the victims of the Boston marathon bombings, for military personnel and their families.

Stuart Nelson will perform “Taps” on his saxophone, followed by closing music and prayer.  People may also bring a lawn chair.
