Privatizationof Education

UW-MADISON SCHOOL OF EDUCATION DEAN TO SPEAK ON
PRIVATIZATION OF EDUCATION MARCH 21; RESERVATION DEADLINE MARCH 10:


Dr. Julie Underwood, UW-Madison School of Education Dean,
will speak on The Privatization of Education on Thursday, March 21, at the
Racine Marriot, 7111 Washington Ave.

Social time starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m., and
program at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner reservations
can be made by sending a $20.00 check, made out to Phi Delta Kappa, to Pat
Holt, PO Box 214, Somers, WI 53171. 



Menu choices are prime rib, chicken fontanelle and
lasagna Florentine al furino.  The

The program can be attended free-of-charge.



Dr. Underwood holds a law degree from Indiana University
and a PhD in educational leadership from the University of Florida.  She was formerly executive director and
general counsel for the National School Boards Association in Washington, D.C.
and is a nationally recognized authority on school law.


People attending the program will find out what the
transition of schools to “for profit” status will mean to all students, not
just the ones left behind, and what informed citizens can do to preserve public
education.


The primary program organizers are the Racine and Kenosha
branches of the American Association of University Women and Phi Delta
Kappa. 



Other sponsors are Delta Kappa Gamma (both Racine and
Kenosha), Racine Area Retired Educators Association, Kenosha Area Retired
Educators Association, the Racine Education Association, the Kenosha Education
Association, the Educators Credit Union, Racine Interfaith Coalition and the
