Leaden Sky and First Flakes

One to three inches of snow is expected to fall quickly today and tonight for portions of south central and southeastern Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service, prompting the weather service to issue a winter weather advisory for southeastern Wisconsin.

Winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

A strong storm system is expected to track from the southern plans into the western Great Lakes region Wednesday night through Thursday.

A heavy snow band will develop and affect portions of southern Wisconsin, with the location of the heaviest snowfall depending on the temperatures and the tracking of the low pressure system.

The forecast for the far southeast Wisconsin Thursday calls for a mix of rain and snow, becoming all snow after noon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. New snow accumulation of one to two inches are possible.

In other areas of Wisconsin, the weather service is confident that there will be a paralyzing snowstorm across southern Wisconsin with blizzard or near blizzard conditions possible.
