Lucareli Earns Racine PTA Scholarship

This Horlick senior and Lombardi have a lot in common.

Sarah Lucareli was among 25 high school seniors, who received scholarships at the annual Racine PTA Council Scholarship and Awards banquet held earlier this month at the Racine Marriott.

There are few names more legendary in Wisconsin sports history than Vince Lombardi.Β  Even today, he is a source of inspiration for young athletes, like Sarah Lucareli.Β  She says a quote from Lombardi provides her words to live by:Β  β€œHard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.”

Well, Sarah is no stranger to either hard work, or success. In her four years at Horlick High School, she has excelled at tennis, soccer, and basketballβ€”she is a 12-time varsity letter winner, and an all-academic team scholar-athlete.Β  She’s also been active in student government throughout high school and has helped organize and volunteered at numerous school events, from homecoming and prom to community fundraisers for others in need. She’s a member of the National Honor Society, math club, and was a delegate to Badger Girls State.

Before Horlick, Sarah came through Jefferson Lighthouse Elementary School and Jerstad Middle School.Β  Her next stop will be the UW–Madison, where she plans to study communication arts or journalism, and eventually pursue a career in event planning or sports communication.Β

We think that Lombardi would have been proud of the work ethic Sarah has already exhibited, and we wish her all the best as we present her with one of this year’s Racine PTA Council Scholarships.
