What’s the most creative graphic you have ever seen on a vehicle? Did it look as though a van had the passenger side sliding door open while the vehicle was in motion? Did a trailer appear as though someone has either left the back gate open or you were watching someone inside working? 3D effects for vehicles can be bold, creative and even make you take a double take.
Keep in mind, these 3D effects are certainly not limited to the “interior of the vehicle” illusion; there are plenty of other options to explore. For example, a vehicle or trailer could give a 3D effect of the product it sells. A trailer could feature a bottle of a tasty beverage, giving the impression that you could just pick it up and take a drink. Another type of 3D effect for a vehicle consists of a graphic bursting out of the side as though the image tore through the external shell of the vehicle. To add to the dramatic effect, images on the side near the “graphic explosion” could be cleverly placed to look as though objects from within the vehicle are leaking from its torn external shell.
I consider myself lucky to design these types of innovative vehicle graphics for our clients. Recently, I created a trailer graphic that utilized a couple of the options discussed earlier. One of the options consisted of a worker moving a skid of scrap metal as if you are actually watching him work inside the trailer, while the other option included a scrap metal bin bursting out of the side of the trailer. Both of these designs are attention grabbing in their own way. As pictured below, the promotional graphics designed for Palmen Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Racine feature the interior benefits of a 2014 Dodge Ram ProMaster.

When done correctly, 3D wraps can be extremely striking and be an effective promotional tool. Whether it is an object “popping” out of a vehicle, giving the illusion to see inside of the vehicle or simply making the product seem so real that you could reach out and grab it, 3D effects for vehicles are versatile and pack a punch.
