Police: Taylor Ave. Shooting Victim 'Not a Random Victim'

19-year-old victim was shot in home invasion/robbery on Sunday night.

RACINE — Police say the man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds near 19th and Taylor Avenue on Sunday night, during a home invasion robbery was not a random victim.

Police say 19-year-old Tyler Strausser was found injured from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Wheaton Franciscan All-Saints emergency by rescue and later to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee via Flight for Life. He was in serious condition Sunday evening and his condition is unknown to authorities as of Tuesday afternoon.

Police are looking for one suspect: a black male in his late teens to early 20s, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

At the time of the shooting the suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was also armed with a handgun.

Racine police investigators are interested in any information that anyone may have about this crime. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are encouraged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756.
