Sheriff Identifies Woman Struck by Semi

Police say a 43-year-old Town of Yorkville woman is dead after chasing her loose dog into the road.

YORKVILLE — UPDATE: The deceased female has been identified as Amy Krenzke a Racine County resident from the Sturtevant area. The dog Amy was trying to retrieve from the road was located later in the day and found to be unharmed and returned to the family.

Sheriff Christopher Schmaling sends his deepest sympathies and prayers to Amy’s family and friends.

Police say a 43-year-old Town of Yorkville woman is dead after she was reportedly struck by a semi truck just after 3 a.m. today as she was chasing her loose dog.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a report that a Semi struck a pedestrian in the 15800 block of Durand Ave. in the Town of Yorkville. It was reported that a 43-year-old female ran into the roadway to retrieve her dog when she was struck by the semi.

Deputies arrived on scene and began lifesaving measures on the female until rescue personnel arrived on scene. The female was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Racine where she was later pronounced deceased.

The operator of the semi is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. At this time it appears that this is an unfortunate accident.
