Racine County Officials to Host Heroin Summit

The Heroin Summit will concentrate on a realistic look at the heroin and opiate epidemic and its impact on Racine County.

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Human Services Department, Medical Examiner’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, the Racine County Judiciary, and the Racine County Executive’s Office will be presenting a summit on the devastating effects of heroin and opiate abuse.

The Heroin Summit will concentrate on a realistic look at the heroin and opiate epidemic and its impact on Racine County. The summit is offering insight from featured speakers and testimonials from families impacted by heroin and opiate abuse.

The Racine County Heroin Summit is open to all parents and community members; ages 13 and older are recommended. Sheriff Christopher Schmaling stated: “We need to do more than simply make arrests and respond to overdose calls. This summit is a proactive step to educate our community about this deadly poison that is destroying our families.”

The summit will be hosted at the Union Grove High School on Wednesday October 26, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
