Racine Unified to Host "Transition Day" for Special Ed Students

Students, families, educators and providers who have children or adults who receive special education services in Racine County are invited to attend Transition Day 2011 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5 at Gateway Technical College, 1001 S. Main St.

The theme of the event is β€œAn Ocean of Opportunities…for Your Future After High School. More than 40 agencies, services, recreation, camps and daily living options will be available about what to expect after high school.

Speakers will focus on transition planning, having a disability, long-term care, finances, autism, preparing for work, making a great IEP, guardianship, self-advocacy, mental illness, assistive technology, moving out, being independent and going to a college or technical school.
