Sheriff's Deputy Saves Union Grove Woman's Life

A Racine County Sheriff's deputy came to the rescue of a choking victim Tuesday afternoon in Union Grove, saving her life.

UNION GROVE -- A Racine County Sheriff's deputy came to the rescue of a choking victim Tuesday afternoon in Union Grove, saving her life.

At 2:15 pm, the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call for a 53 year old woman who was choking on her food at a residence in the 1100 block of 11th Ave. in the Village of Union Grove.

The caller advised the patient had food coming out of her nose and her lips were turning blue.

A Racine County Sheriff’s Deputy responded and found the patient was still choking on the food. The patient was still conscious, but was unable to speak. The Deputy quickly administered the Heimlich maneuver and successfully dislodged the obstruction in the patient’s airway.

The patient quickly recovered and was not transported to the hospital. According to a news release, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office is very happy our deputy was able to utilize his emergency medical training to prevent a tragedy.
