State Sen. Van Wanggaard Earns Small Business Award
The National Federation of Independent Business has honored Van Wanggaard for supporting legislation helpful to small business.

WISCONSIN -- State Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) has been honored by the National Federation of Independent Business for his work supporting legislation helpful to the small business climate in Wisconsin.
The National Federation of Independent Business honored Wanggaard with the Guardian Award, the NFIB’s highest honor. According to the organization, the Guardian Award is reserved for elected officials "who have tirelessly stood up for the best interests of small business owners in the Legislature."
“Senator Van Wanggaard has been a strong advocate for Main Street businesses since being elected. He certainly brings a unique perspective to Madison and has relentlessly voiced the priorities of the small business community to fellow lawmakers,” NFIB Wisconsin state director, Bill G. Smith said in a prepared statement. “The Senator played a key role in passage of several pro-small business bills during the 2015-16 Session of the Legislature.”

The 2015-2016 legislative session dealt with various issues that impacted the small business community throughout Wisconsin. NFIB spent significant resources fighting for legislation that, among other things, repealed the prevailing wage, reduced fraud in unemployment insurance and provided a funding mechanism for the tourism industry.
Senator Van Wanggaard fought for small business owners in each and every one of these issues, and for that reason, he has been presented with the Guardian Award by NFIB/Wisconsin, according to information released by NFIB Tuesday.
