Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges for Caledonia Residents
A routine traffic stop led to drug charges for two Caledonia residents after they denied having having drugs in the car.

CALEDONIA -- A routine traffic stop led to drug charges for two Caledonia residents after they denied having having drugs in the car.
Caledonia police stopped Bailey L. Acker, 19, and Daniel R. Nelson, 24, near Four Mile Road and Highway H in Caledonia on Monday.
According to their criminal complaint, Nelson, the driver, did not have a valid drivers license after it was revoked due to a previous OWI. The officer also noted that Nelson was on extended supervision and was ordered not to have contact with his passenger, Acker.

Officers noted that both Nelson's and Acker's speech was altered and slow, and both parties denied that the vehicle they were driving in contained any illegal substances, according to their complaint.
Upon a search of their vehicle, however, turned up a different story. According to their criminal complaint, officers found:

- 2.1 grams of marijuana in a gallon ziplock bag.
- 41.7 grams of marijuana in another ziplock bag.
- 10 adderall pills in an orange prescription bottle in which the name was scratched off.
- 20 clonazepam pills in an orange prescription bottle in which the name was scratched off.
- A digital scale which smelled of marijuana.
- A glass pipe that had the odor of marijuana.
- 46 more clonazepam pills.
- Nelson was searched at the jail and had a total of $420 on his person.
The two have been charged with possession with intent to deliver THC as party to a crime, possession with intent to deliver non-narcotics as party to a crime.
Acker has been additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Nelson has been additionally charged with operating a motor vehicle after revocation.
