Village Board Approves Bar Owner's Outdoor Music Plans

Trustees voice concerns, approve conditional use permit for two dates this summer.

The Village Board decided on Tuesday to allow a bar owner to build an addition to an outside pavilion where he will offer live music.

After approving a site plan review of a 30 by 45 foot addition to an open-sided pavilion at , 11601 Highway G, trustees approved a conditional use permit for two live music events this summer. 

Trustees, who voiced their concern with the possible disruption the music would cause the surrounding area, agreed to allow the tavern to live bands until midnight on July 21 and Aug. 18.

Bar owner Scott Gustin, who attended the meeting, would have to request a new conditional use permit for future live engagements at the establishment. 

"It's not everyday. it's usually Saturday night and it's usually once a month," said Gustin, who added that he has spoken to neighbors about his plan.

The Village Board also approved: 

  • Purchase of a device for the Fire Department.  
  • Installation of bay floor lighting for Fire Station 12.
  • Renewal of an for Vulcan Materials. 
  • Placement of bike route signs on 6 and 7 Mile roads.
