Wednesday Talker: What Summer Concerts Are You Planning To Go To?

Lotsa choices out there... but what will you choose? I'm looking for ideas.

So the Mr. and I were talking about where we would spend our concert dollars this summer.

"Can't we find some new bands?" I asked.

"What do you mean new?" he said.

I carefully explained that I'd like to see bands that didn't feature 60 year old men (no offense to anyone), that I'm growing tired of the stuff we grew up with and I'd like to find something different to see.

Now, let me back up. Mr. Denise is prone to liking things a lot. We've been to Disney three times and we still have 10 days of nonexpiring tickets. We've been season ticket holders for Great American for five years. This spring we went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert up in Green Bay. While I've only seen TSO (twice) during their Christmas concert, he talked me into the third concert by telling me that it was the Night Castle concert (much to his credit it rocked.) And last year, we went to see ZZ Top. It rocked too. But he wants to see it again during the State Fair.

So I'm 40 (cough) plus years old and I feel like I've outgrown these things, at least a little. And I've been listening wayyyy too much to my kid's stuff. So I'm looking for ideas and I don't see myself going to see any Madonna wannabees.

I did manage to talk him into going to see Michael Franti, a choice he wasn't ecstatic about until he found out that a band called Here Come The Mummies plays right before them. The song titles -- "Booty." "Libbido Knieval," and "Ra Ra Ra."

So help! I need concert ideas.
