Thousands of students throughout the country and in many foreign countries competed March 22nd in the Knowledge Master Open academic competition. Fifth and sixth-grade students faced their computers and 100 tough questions to vie for top scores based on both accuracy and speed of their answers.
The questions were taken from 15 subject areas including history, government, current events, economics, law, geography, Language Arts, mathematics, science, fine arts, and trivia. The students were able to submit answers online, allowing many different schools the opportunity to compete in a worldwide event without the expense of traveling to a central location.
The Maple Dale Middle School team of 17 students placed first in the state again, as they also placed first in the January competition.
