Three members of the state championship field hockey team have been selected as members of the 2011 Harrow Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association High School All-Region Team. Senior midfielder Sally James, senior forward Jenna Seter and sophomore forward Kendall Youngblood were chosen by the NFHCA to be members of the Midwest Region team.
The Midwest Region team has 17 members in total. The selection of James, Seter, and Youngblood demonstrated that USM was a field hockey power in the Midwest. USM’s threesome gave the school the highest number of players on the All-Region team. Other than USM, only Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, IL. had more than one player make the team. Twelve other Midwestern schools each had a single player make the team.
The NFHCA serves field hockey coaches at all levels and supports the growth of field hockey throughout the United States. As a result of making the All-Region team, James, Seter and Youngblood are candidates for All-American honors. The NFCHA will announce its All-American team later this month.
