May 29 was the official start of the project to upgrade University School's outdoor athletic facilities. The project includes the installation of two synthetic turf fields and the addition of security fencing, bleachers, and a new press box. The construction is scheduled to be completed in time for the beginning of the 2012-13 school year.
The new fields will be used by all of the School's physical education classes, as well as Middle and Upper School athletics programs.
Project leaders gathered for a ceremonial “groundbreaking” to mark the occasion.
