USM Names Interim Head Girls Soccer Coach

The Athletic Department named Patrick Flanagan as Interim Head Girls Soccer Coach. Flanagan is a native of Milwaukee and a graduate of Dominican High School. Coach Flanagan joined the University School soccer staff in 2009 and has served as Head Junior Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity coach for both the boys and the girls teams.

“I am looking forward to taking the reins as Head Coach for the girls’ varsity soccer program this spring. I see this as an exciting opportunity to keep USM’s winning traditional alive while continuing to build successful, young leaders in our community,” Flanagan said.

Prior to joining the Wildcats, Flanagan was the Head Boys Soccer Coach at Dominican High School and was a Varsity Assistant in their girls program.

Flanagan has an extensive soccer background. He grew up playing soccer with several different local club teams before joining with the Bavarian Soccer Club. While with the Bavarians, he was a three-year captain and led the team to four State Cups. When his team traveled to Germany to compete, they amassed a 7-1 record playing local clubs. At Dominican, Patrick was a two year Varsity captain as well as a two-time first team All-Conference performer. After his senior year, Flanagan was named as an honorable mention member of the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association All-State team. Patrick went on to be a Falcon at Concordia University in Mequon where his team won a Great Lakes Conference title in 2004 and he was named to the All-Rookie team. Flanagan is still passionate about playing soccer and he continues to compete with the Milwaukee Brewers, a local Majors team.

USM Athletic Director, Rick Johns said, “I am excited that Patrick has accepted our offer. He has been on our soccer staff for six seasons, so he knows University School well and he has prior Head Coaching experience. It is our expectation that this appointment will maintain stability in our program while we do a full search for new boys and girls soccer coaches this late winter and spring.”
