
All three of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee’s child care centers have been awarded NAC Accreditation from the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs. The three child care centers are:
- YMCA Dunwood Child Care Center at 217 W. Dunwood Rd. in Fox Point;
- John C. Cudahy YMCA Child Care Center at 9050 N. Swan Rd. in Milwaukee;
- Northside YMCA Childcare Center at 1350 W. North Ave. in Milwaukee.
“We are honored to have received NAC Accreditation for all three of our Early Childhood Education Centers here in Metropolitan Milwaukee,” said Julie Lefler, Association Director of Childhood Development at the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. “Here at the Y, we provide a nurturing environment and enriching experiences that help to facilitate a child’s cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth. Each day our mission is to ensure every child has the potential to grow, learn and thrive within our care.”
As NAC Accredited centers, the Y Child Care Centers have been recognized as early care and education programs that exemplify excellence in the care of young children. By achieving NAC Accreditation each Y Child Care Center provides a high quality program for children, professional development opportunities for staff, a program that has exceeded state licensing requirements for parents, and for children an environment that is conducive to their individual growth and
development.
The accreditation process included a self-study process in which administrators, staff and parents evaluated the program in accordance with NAC Accreditation Standards. After the self-study process was complete an onsite observation took place the each Y Child Care Center by an early childhood professional. Based on the information collected, the Y’s Child Care Centers each were award accreditation through the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education.
The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Educations Programs (NAC) is sponsored by the National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP). NACCP is the nation’s leader among associations serving child care owners, directors and administrators.
