Environmental Cartoon depicting the idea that like a caterpillar we consume our environment at a rapacious rate.
I was observing the damage tent caterpillars can do to an area along the highway that I go by on a daily basis and could not help but pick up on the metaphor that with 8 or nearly 9 billion of us on this planet we like the caterpillars I observed are eating the heck out of our environment .I watched said caterpillars destroy a fairly large area of small trees and shrubs in just one season and we are selves are using up our planet in much the same way through all the resources .Much of what we use up is not at all renewable, our rather unsupervised experiment on our climate by burning up a few odd million years of fossil fuel in little more than a century will most likely not pan out to good for man kind ,and unlike my Caterpillar friends we really can not grow wings and fly ourselves out of this predicament.
