Jamie Breiwick releases "Spirits" on Chicago's BluJazz Record Label

Jamie Breiwick to release new recording, "Spirits" on Chicago's BluJazz Record Label on Saturday May 4th, 2013.

Please join the Jamie Breiwick Quartet for a night of live jazz at Milwaukee's finest jazz club, The Jazz Estate, on Saturday May 4th, 2013 at 9:30pm. "Spirits" features Breiwick on trumpet along with tenor saxophonist Tony Barba, bassist Tim Ipsen, and drummer Andrew Green. The recording marks Breiwick's third album as a leader and his first release on record label BluJazz (Chicago). His previous two self-produced albums, "Song to a Rose" (2006) and "Serenity" (2012) are available for download only at jamiebreiwick.bandcamp.com

He’s clearly finding his own forward-pushing place in the trumpet tradition.

It recalls John Coltrane’s more pensive lyrical moments in his late years, when he pushed the spiritual-empowerment envelope like the shaman Dr. King might have met on that windswept mountaintop.

Spirits demonstrates extraordinary range and vision from this new jazz generation, and delivers on promise as if tapped into a musical wellspring flowing through their veins.
