New York Times best-selling author Vijay Govindarajan to discuss global innovation

The Cardinal Stritch University Helen Bader Leadership Speaker Series will feature noted strategy and innovation expert Vijay Govindarajan, who is the Earl C. Daum 1924 Professor of International Business and the Founding Director of Tuck's Center for Global Leadership.

β€œReverse Innovation” will be offered from 7:30-11 a.m. Monday, June 11 at the Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave. The event is co-sponsored by the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Center for Innovation and Business Development, GE Healthcare, and Ernst & Young.

Named the world's third most influential business thinker by The Thinkers 50, Govindarajan was the first professor inΒ residence and chief innovation consultant at General Electric. He has been cited byΒ BusinessWeek, TheΒ Economist, Forbes, andΒ The London Times as the top thought leader in strategy.

Govindarajan will speak on his new book,Β β€œReverse Innovation: Create Far From Home, Win Everywhere,” published in April 2012. In the book, he offers a bold conclusion with far-reaching implications: "Innovation flows uphill, and its future lies in emerging markets." β€œReverse Innovation” has appeared on several best seller lists including: New York Times Best Seller (#7), USA Today Best Seller (#1), and Wall Street Journal Business Best Seller (#1).

Participants at the event will have the opportunity to engage him in dialogue on how global innovation affects your business locally. Copies of Vijay Govindarajan's book, which he co-authored with Chris Trimble, will be for sale at the event for $10, 50% off the online price.

This event is part of Milwaukee Innovation Week, an exhibition of the region's talent in design, innovation, and technology. MiKE, Innovation in Milwaukee, is a community initiative of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, whose mission is to ensure that Milwaukee is the best place to live, learn, work and play. MiKE was initially funded by ArtPlace, an initiative of 11 of America’s top foundations working in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts and seven federal agencies.
