Nicolet Athletic Update: 5.20.13

 

The NHS Girls Softball team:  The Girls earned a #6 seed and will open up the WIAA Playoffs at home Tuesday night at 4:30pm vs. Milwaukee Vincent.  A win would put them in the Regional Championship game on Thursday night (likely at DSHA).

The NHS Boys and Girls Track teams: The Boys and Girls will travel to Cedarburg High School on Monday night (4:00pm) for the WIAA Regional Track Meet.  For those athletes that qualify, the WIAA Sectional Track meet will take place on Thursday at Milwaukee Hamilton beginning at 3:30pm.

The NHS Girls Soccer team: The JV/V Girls will host Whitefish Bay in their final North Shore Conference match-up of the season on Tuesday night (JV-5/V-7pm).  The JV/V (4:30/6:30pm) will then travel to Franklin on Thursday night for their final regular season match.  JV2 girls will play at New Berlin Eisenhower on Tuesday night at 5pm then finish their season on Saturday in the Brookfield East Tournament (9am). 

 

The NHS Boys Golf team: The Varsity took 6th in conference and 6th at the conference final on Friday at Washington County.  After a 3 hour rain delay, the Knights were led by Nolan Wagner who shot 84, and Alex Braun who shot 85 which placed Alex in the top 15 for the year.  Alex earned Honorable Mention All Conference for his play this year.  The Knights head to Silver Spring Country Club on Tuesday for Regionals hosted by Menomonee Falls. 

 

The NHS Boys Rugby team:  Nicolet RFC 33 Whitefish Bay RFC 12. A huge congrats goes out to all of the students, staff, family members and ALUMNI that showed up to support the Nicolet Ruggers! The team wants to thank you for giving them the spark that drove them to victory!  This week, the team will play Monday night in Madison before beginning the playoffs on Thursday in Fond Du Lac.

 

The NHS Boys Tennis team: The Varsity finished 2nd behind Homestead in last week's North Shore Conference tournament.  This week, the team will compete in the WIAA Sub-Sectionals on Monday at 9am at Merill Park.  Those qualifying will then compete in the WIAA Sectionals at Greenfield High School on Thursday beginning at 8:15am.

 

The NHS Baseball team:  The team begins playing this week with the Varsity hosting Tosa East at Stormonth Field on Thursday night at 5:30pm.  The Frosh team will scrimmage Brown Deer on Friday at Stormonth (4:30pm).  On Saturday, the Varsity will play at Brookfield East at 10am then turn right around and head to Waukesha West for a 2:30pm game.  The JV will participate in a tournament on Saturday at Howards Grove High School starting at 2pm.

 

Congratulations to Nicolet Senior Briana Gray who recently was named to the Wisconsin High School Sports Academic All-State Basketball team!

 

Fall Sports Sign-Up Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29th at 2:30pm.  Please check the tv monitors for the classrooms your sport is assigned to or check with your head coach.

 

The NHS Booster Club:  Next meeting is Wednesday, June 5th at Zamboni's located in the Radisson Hotel on Green Tree and Port Washington Road at 7pm. The Booster Club is teaming up with the Lakeshore Chinooks for a Nicolet Outing at a Chinooks game on Saturday, June 22nd.  (Flyer Attached).  The Senior Athletic Scholarship Night is Wednesday, May 29th at 6pm in the NHS Cafeteria.  All senior athletes are encouraged to attend.  Students must be present to accept any

scholarships that have won.  (Flyer Attached).

Please save the date for the 5th Annual Nicolet Athletic Golf Outing Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at the Fire Ridge Golf Club in Grafton.  The past four golf outings have raised more than $50,000 for the Nicolet Athletic Department! We need your help again.  We are looking for golfers, donations and silent auction items.  Please look at the attachment for the necessary forms.  We are still looking for corporate sponsors.

 

Football University Camp - Airport Drivers

Football University is running a camp at Nicolet High School on July 12 - 14. They are looking for people to pick-up coaches from the airport on Friday, July 12 and drop-off on Sunday, July 14. Compensation is $150.00 For more information, contact Nate Brooks at nate_brooks@nicolet.k12.wi.us
