On a Bad Day the Wildcats Were Good
The University School golf team advanced to Sectionals after taking second in D2 Regional play.

Tuesday, the weather was bad, but the University School golf team was good. USM placed second in the New Berlin West Regional of the Division 2 state tournament held at the New Berlin Hills Golf Club in New Berlin.
Racine St. Catherine's won the meet with 323 shots, while USM’s five golfers compiled a total of 340. Brown Deer and New Berlin West tied for third at 341, followed by Wisconsin Lutheran at 350, St. Thomas More at 354, Milwaukee Lutheran at 375, Shorewood at 394, and St. Francis at 478.
Beau Gundersen of New Berlin West was the day’s top individual. He shot a 78 on the par 71 golf course. Sam Kuchenreuther of Brown Deer and Sean Howard of St. Catherine tied for second at 79. Jake Gaudynski, of Wisconsin Lutheran and Tyler Kamakian of St. Catherine’s finished with 80s to tie for fourth place. USM’s top individual was Noah Mandel who carded an 83, good enough for eighth place. Andrew Hattersley took 10th place for the Wildcats with an 84. Zach Hafeman ended in 13th place after shooting an 85, Greg Booth shot an 88 and placed 14th, and Daniel Mandel shot a 90, to land in 26th place.

As a result of their fine play as a team, the Wildcats will advance to the Sectional meet on Tuesday, at the Golf Club at Camelot in Lomira.
