Summer Survival Tips: Avoiding Green Hair and Tetanus
Brio Salon Solves Summer Beauty Blunders...

Summer is quickly approaching and the staff at Brio Salon would like to offer a few pointers to protect your hair and nails while enjoying fun in the sun.
We are all aware of the importance of protecting our skin from the sun, yet we often neglect to prevent the havoc simple summer activities such as a day at the beach or gardening can inflict on out hair and nails. Frequent dips in the pool can cause many problems such as color fading, or the dreaded "chlorine green." If left untreated for an extended period, the only sure way to remove it is with a trip to the salon for a hair cut.
The easiest way to prevent chlorine damage is to wet the hair prior to swimming. Hair is like a sponge and can only absorb so much. Far less chlorine will be absorbed if water or a leave-in conditioner is applied prior to chlorine exposure. For regular swimmers, a weekly clarifying shampoo, followed with a deep conditioner will be beneficial.

Our biggest challenges in the summer are color fading and brassiness of hair color due to over-exposure of the sun. Our advice, all though often not well received, is: wear a hat! Be sure to tuck in the ends of your hair too. If a hat is not an option, be sure to apply a styling product that contains a sun protector such as our beloved Moroccan Oil.
Gardening or a barefoot stroll on the beach can lead to more than just chipped polish. Be sure to wear gloves and shoes whenever possible to avoid unsightly nails or worse...tetanus.

Regular use of a pumice stone will keep your feet in shape for summer sandals, and frequent application of a cuticle oil such as Solar Oil will extend the life of your manicure and pedicure. A few simple changes or additions to your daily routine will ensure you look great for all of your summer events.
