Over the last two years, Governor Walker has worked to create an environment that allows job creators to succeed and expand. It’s working. In fact, business surveys show a remarkable turnaround in the state, as 94% of employers said we are heading in the right direction. That’s good news for those looking for work.
The Governor also understands the importance of a skilled workforce – making sure that workers have the training needed for the jobs that are available. This workforce will ultimately drive our state forward and we must ensure that they are prepared for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
That’s why filling that skills gap is a major initiative for our Governor. With investments in Department of Workforce Development grants, he is working to allow the training necessary for the workers of today in order to be able to develop the jobs of tomorrow. With over 42,000 jobs listed on the Jobs Center of Wisconsin website, these investments aim to tackle that gap first hand.

In order to encourage development, over $100 million has been allocated for tax relief on manufacturers, giving them the confidence they need to expand and hire again.
While we often hear about the fiscal recklessness in Washington, here in Wisconsin, things are moving in the right direction. While President Obama struggles to get spending under control, Governor Walker balanced the budget and honed in on a priority – workforce development. As jobs and careers change, our Governor understands the need to keep our workforce up-to-date to receive the training they need to be competitive and thrive.
