Researching your destination before you venture off on your vacation can help you save time, money and even frustrations. Our travel section of books is in the 914’s to 919’s in the very last aisle of the . Here you will find the popular travel guides including the following series:

In addition to books, magazines can be an excellent way to discover travel information and tips. You will find the following periodicals in the Browsing Room of the Library:
Conde Nast Traveler – This up-scale travel magazine features cruises in the August issue and evaluates ships, recommends routes and gives tips for “smooth sailing.” Additional articles here include suggestions for places to stay, where to find good food and what to do whether you are in New York or in Paris. The advertisements include tours and luxury brand items. The last page is a fun one each month. It is called “A Room with a View” and features a photograph looking out of a window (or porthole) or from a balcony of some accommodation in the world with text describing the destination.

National Geographic Traveler – As is the norm with National Geographic publications, this magazine is filled with lovely and dramatic photography. Along with more in-depth articles about travel destinations, you will find lots of advertisements for destinations and tours. Also included is a calendar of “Travel-Worthy Events and Happenings.”
Travel Smart – This monthly periodical has been around since 1976 giving travels “insider” advice and travel tips. It is independently owned and does not accept advertising. They claim to be unbiased and to tell the “unvarnished truth about deals, destinations and discounts.” Money Magazine has called this the “best newsletter for travelers on a budget.”
