USM Alum to Play in NCAA Baseball Championships
Charlie James, University School class of 2010, will on the Chapman University team in the NCAA Division 3 baseball championship tournament in Appleton this weekend.

Time for another championship? alumnus Charlie James thinks it is.
As a senior catcher, Charlie James helped lead the University School baseball team to the state championship at Fox Cities Stadium, the home of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Appleton, WI. This weekend James will return to the scene of the Wildcats’ success, but in a different uniform.
Now a freshman at Chapman University in Orange, CA., James is a catcher on the Chapman University baseball team. He and his fellow Panthers will travel to Appleton to take part in the NCAA Division 3 baseball Championship Tournament beginning Friday.

Chapman (33-11) will face Kean University (42-9) in the double-elimination tournament’s first game at 10 a.m. on Friday. Salisbury (33-12) faces first ranked Marietta (42-3) at 1:15 p.m. UW-Whitewater (36-11) plays Buena Vista (32-16) at 4:30 p.m. and Western New England (41-9) takes on Keystone College (36-10) at 7:45 p.m.
James is the only player on Chapman’s team from outside of California, but he is not the Panther to have played at Fox Rivers Stadium. Chapman played in the NCAA D3 tournament in Appleton two year ago and won a national title in 2003.
