Wildcats Drop Close Boys Lacrosse Contest
The University School boys' lacrosse team lost to Catholic Memorial 7-6 Tuesday
The University School boys’ lacrosse team lost to Catholic Memorial 7-6 Tuesday at USM.
The Wildcats feel behind early. They rallied back and came close several times during the game, but they were never able to regain a tie.
USM’s head coach Greg Roberts said, “We played a very motivated team this evening. Catholic Memorial seemed to want to slow the game down and play fundamental lacrosse. They quickly got went up 2 to 0, and I took a timeout to refocus our team and invoke some much-needed passion. From there we started to claw our way back, but we never were able to even up the score. We continued to fight hard and scored a late goal to bring the game to one. But we once again failed to retrieve a crucial groundball when we needed before time expired to tie it up. Nelson Kies played with heart and had twelve ground balls, which is an enormous amount of ground balls. Clifford Pitts and Ryan Revolinski each had five. Those kinds of efforts helped us stay close.”
