Wildcats Host Pentacular Part III
The University School track and field team took third in its Pentacular Invitational Tuesday
The University School track and field team hosted the USM Pentacular, Part III Tuesday. Both the USM boys team and the USM girls team placed third in the invitational meet.
In the boys’ portion of the meet, Shorewood took first place with 128 points. Lake Country Lutheran was second with 65 points. USM was third with 50 points followed by Wayland Academy with 43 points, Unattached competitors with 11 points, and the Shoreland Lutheran Pacers with 2 points.
Shorewood also won the girls’ meet with 105 points. Lake Country Lutheran was second with 80 points. USM was third with 49 points, followed by Wayland Academy with 40 points, and the Shoreland Lutheran Pacers with 26 points.

USM had two first place finishes in the boys events. In the discus, Dan Taylor took first place with a throw of 130’ 05”. USM’s Neal Brethauer took second place with a throw of 120’ 07”.
Djdade Denson won the Long Jump for USM with a jump of 21’ 01.25”.

Denson also finished second in the 200 Meter Dash, running the distance in 23.83 seconds, just behind Anthony Brower of Shorewood, who finished at 23.61 seconds.
Taylor captured second place for USM in the 400 Meter Dash. Taylor finished the race in 53.44 seconds. Jacob Goldberg of Shorewood won the event with a time of 51.29.
USM’s Philip Shuler finished second in the Triple Jump with a leap of 32’ 05”. Ryan Rabata of Wayland won the event with a jump of 37’ o7”
Brethauer took third place in the Shot Put. He put the shot 36’ 09.25 “. Tim Martons of Lake Country Lutheran won the Shot Put with a put of 38’ 06”.
The Wildcats also had several victories in the girls meet. USM swept the top three places in the 300 Meter Low Hurdles. Emily Waples won the race in 53.43 seconds. Her twin sister, Megan Waples, was second at 58.47. Julia Veitinger took third place for USM, finishing at 59.02.
USM won the top two places in the 800 Meter Run. Emma Kulick was the victor, running the distance in 2:43. Megan Waples placed second with a time of 2:48.10.
Kulick and Waples finished second and third respectively in the 1600 Meter Run. Kulick’s time was 6:00.07 and Waples’ was 6:15.34. Ferone Madoo of Shorewood won the run with a time of 5:51.71.
Nicole Flanary, Emily Waples, Lindsay Neitzel and Veitinger took third place in the 1600 Meter Relay. The USM quartet finished with a time of 4:59.25. Shorewood’s Haley Floorsheim, Madoo, Izzi Snyder, and Mimi Smith won the event in 4:38.01.
USM had a fourth place in the Long Jump. Taylor Bernard jumped 14’ 02” for the Wildcats. Taelor Ellenbecker of Lake Country Lutheran won with a leap of 15’00”.
The USM track and field team hosts the USM Pentacular Part IV at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1st.
