'Winnie The Pooh Kids' Cast Performs in The Spirit of Giving

Like the characters they portray, the cast of "Winnie the Pooh Kids" learn lessons in both teamwork and friendship.

Members of Kids Entertaining Kids are proud to be an example to their community, of what kids are capable of doing  in the spirit of giving. Every Monday night 15 middle school students enter the Ritz Theater at the , full of love for the theater and for children they may never meet. Their mission is to produce “Winnie the Pooh Kids” and to raise money to send underprivileged children to JCC Rainbow Day Camp.

All kids look forward to summer; a time when they don’t have to worry about homework and getting up early to catch the bus. For many, summer is also  a time to connect with friends while making memories at camp. But for a lot of kids, finances at home make affording camp, impossible.

The teens in Kids Entertaining Kids, know that there is more to money than just purchasing the latest gadgets and trends. They are working hard to put money to a more important use, philanthropy.

Last summer, Rainbow Day Camp hosted several less fortunate groups for a free week of camp. Students from Thoreau School, United Community Center, America S.C.O.R.E.S, and Gilda’s Club were able to have a camp experience that their family situations were unable to accommodate. It costs approximately $3,000 to send each of  these groups to JCC Rainbow Day Camp for a week.

The talented cast of “Winnie the Pooh Kids” wants to ensure that children in their community continue to get the experience to make new friends, build self esteem, forget about the stresses of life and make memories at camp.
