Nicolet High School is raising awareness about eating disorders, body image, mental health, and the importance of stress management by hosting the seminar "ED 101" on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the library.
"ED (Eating Disorders) 101" is a free 60-minute seminar to train parents, school leaders, and educators (the seminar is not open to students) about eating disorders, proper intervention strategies, and evidence-based treatment and resource options.
The seminar will feature a short documentary film, ED 101, followed by a 20-30 minute discussion with two leaders in the field of eating disorders: Dr. Laura Lees, a clinical psychologist based in Milwaukee, and Chase Bannister, Vice President of NORMAL, a national nonprofit started in Milwaukee in 2006 that now collaborates with the Harvard School of Public Health, and of Veritas Collaborative, a leading adolescent eating disorder treatment facility located at Duke University. Also present will be a father/daughter team who successfully went through treatment and helped create NORMAL and its award-winning programs.
