After a great morning spent learning and exploring in Piano Camp, take a break and eat your bag lunch with your new friends, followed by a visit to our music library. With your mind and body refreshed, seize the opportunity to take two 30-minute lessons with a Wisconsin Conservatory of Music faculty member, along with sessions for practicing. Next, students will have the opportunity to receive instruction on different types of keyboard instruments such as the marimba, xylophone, and vibraphone. Students will develop a more rhythmic sense, gain an insight into the technique and coordination that is required, and benefit from the transfer of skills involved between playing a keyboard percussion instrument and playing the piano. The day concludes with a relaxing yet informative session on piano composers and the music that they wrote on two of the afternoons and a performance class on the other afternoons. Students will either perform or sit in on a Performance / Master Class with other campers while receiving insights into piano technique, musicianship, interpretation, and performance tips in our beautiful Helen Bader Recital Hall.
