Free Showing of "The Book Thief"

The 2013 war drama film “The Book Thief” will be shown at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, in the Glendale Senior Citizens’ Clubroom on the lower level of Glen Hills Middle School, 2600 W. Mill Road, Glendale. It is the story of a young girl (Sophie Nelisse) sent to live with a foster German family in Nazi Germany. She is taught to read by her foster father (Geoffrey Rush), after which she “borrows” books and shares them with the young Jewish refugee also taken in by her foster family. Emily Watson is also featured.
