The Hebrew program at Nicolet High School, the only public high school in Wisconsin offering Hebrew, will be expanded for the 2013-14 academic year.
The Committee to Support Hebrew at Nicolet recently pledged enough funding to allow the school to expand Hebrew from three sections to four, eliminating the need to offer combined classes except for Hebrew 4/5.
“This change will allow for increased individual attention for students and greater opportunities for enriched programming,” said committee member Steven Baruch, Executive Director for the Coalition for Jewish Learning.

Beginning and intermediate Hebrew levels will now be taught in distinct sections, allowing students to advance quickly through an enhanced curriculum, Baruch said.
“By offering four distinct levels, the Hebrew program at Nicolet, which has always been of exceptional quality, rises to an even higher level,” said Baruch.

Students do not need any background in Hebrew to enroll, and the program is open to all Wisconsin high school students.
