New Temporary Sign Ordinance for Bayside Residents
Residents can now put up temporary signs pertaining to civic, fraternal, benevolent, philanthropic, educational, or religious organizations drives or events without a permit.
Bayside recently created a new section of village code that eases the restrictions of residents putting up temporary signs in their yards. Residents do not need a permit to put up temporary signs pertaining to civic, fraternal, benevolent, philanthropic, educational, or religious organizations drives or events provided:
- No single sign may exceed 3.5 square feet on one side or seven total square feet on two sides;
- Signs can't be put up more than 20 days prior to a specified event related to the sign and cannot be left up more than five days after the event;
- Signs pertaining to non-dated events shall not be displayed for more than 20 days in any single three month period;
- Signs must be well maintained, undamaged, and not in a deteriated condition;
- No more than one exempt temporary sign may be displayed on any property at a time, except for corner properties where one sign may be displayed on each adjacent street.
