Functional Fitness Fusion For Active Seniors
This 2 part program is a fusion of several disciplines (Hatha Yoga, Mat Pilates, Functional Movement and Strength Training)
Session 1: “Yoga-lates”
Yoga fusion of Mat Pilates and Therapeutic Hatha Yoga designed to calm and center the mind, improve strength, flexibility and balance. We will learn techniques to improve posture obtaining optimal form while including modifications according to ability.
Session 2: “Better Brain, Better Bones, Better Balance”
Refine and build upon the foundations from Session 1. In addition, we will learn neuro-balance and bone building exercises and Yoga Poses to re-awaken the mind/body connection improving our stability and confidence helping to reduce the risk of falls as is common when these pathways remain dormant from lack of use. Balance is about losing it... and then finding it...AGAIN! The expression “Use It or Lose It” becomes our Mantra.
FAQ: You must be able to transition to and from the floor without assistance. Some Yoga and Mat Pilates experience encouraged but not required. If you have a health condition please check with your physician before you begin this or any exercise program. Best to practice on an empty stomach - ideally 2 hours or more since your last meal. If you must eat, make it a light meal or snack, something that is easy to digest! What to bring/wear: Layered exercise clothing, water, thick density Yoga Mat and a Yoga Block, your bare feet, and a positive and open mind!
