This course will help your student jump-start the college essay writing process, with particular emphasis on composing a personal statement using the preferred narrative writing style. Specific attention will be given to the role of the personal essay (Common Application and others), preparation tips, choosing an appropriate topic, writing strategies, and avoidance of common mistakes. This class will also cover strategies for addressing the UW-Madison essay prompts and supplemental essays to the Common Application.This course brings objectivity and perspective to the college essay writing process, reducing stress for both the student and parents.
*Sharon Madnek is owner of “Say It Write”, a provider of collaborative writing and editing services and an experienced professional in the area of college essays. Ms. Madnek earned a B.B.A. from UW-Madison and an MBA from Northwestern University. Prior to establishing“Say It Write”, she worked in Marketing and Communications for Pepsi-Cola Company and Lever Brothers Company in New York City.
