Summa, Summa, Summertime!

It's June 3rd so hopefully summer is just around the corner. I have such fond memories of summer as a child. My brother, sister and I would swim in our neighborhood pool, lake, play t-ball and night games (remember 'kick the can' and 'ghost in the graveyard'?). Summer was amazing and I want the same wonderful memories for my kids. We have three lovely kids, three-year-old twins and a 15-month old. Though they are too young for some of the memories described above, the twins are the perfect age for some fantastic activities. I have them all signed up for swim lessons, soccer, gymnastics, cooking class and Spanish lessons. Though this may sound like a lot, most of these activities are once a week for an hour or less. We'll have plenty of time to swim at the JCC water park, slide and swing at the local parks and enjoy lazy afternoons in the backyard. We also have such fond memories from last summer when it was balmy hot! We went to the Dairyland Bike Races (Grafton and Shorewood), and found that the kids just loved to ring the cow bells as the bikers sped by. We also enjoyed fireworks at multiple places over the 4th and the many parades that accompany the holiday. This summer, I'm hoping to make s'mores with my kids now that they are older, maybe take a family bike ride now that they have 'big kid' bikes and continue to make new friends with other kids in the area. We now have a new business to attend to as well. We are so excited for the warmer months, as we're hoping that frozen yogurt and/or a cold smoothie will be just the ticket on a hot day. Like our family, we're hoping that other families will come into Red Mango together and make a memory, have a laugh and have a treat. After all, summer is about making memories, being a little too hot for comfort and really embracing fun with your children.
