Ducklings Rescued, Fires Stopped: Franklin Fire Weekly Roundup
Between fighting fires, the Franklin Fire Department rescued some ducklings from June 27 to July 3, the department's week in review said.
FRANKLIN, WI — The Franklin Fire Department recently rescued two families of ducklings from storm sewers, solved the source of a strange odor in a computer server room and put out multiple fires around town, according to the department's week in review.
This week in review is for June 27 to July 3.
The department continued its "string of animal rescues" when it responded to two families of ducklings stuck in storm sewers. The department was able to successfully rescue both families of ducks from the storm drains, the department wrote.

The evening of July 2, the department responded to reports of a strange odor coming from a business on the 4700 block of West Oakwood Park Drive. Engine 113 and Battalion 11 met with officials from the business that reported the odor.
The department investigated the issue and discovered that the odor was coming from a computer server room. Firefighters went in wearing breathing masks and discovered a defective battery backup system.

Firefighters disconnected the malfunctioning battery and removed it from the building, the department wrote in its weekly review.
The department also responded to two residential fires. On July 2, the department responded to a residential kitchen fire in the 6000 block of West Glen Court. The resident was able to extinguish most of the fire before crews arrived, the week in review said.
On July 5, a dumpster fire occurred, requiring a full assignment to be dispatched. The dumpster, located on the 9500 block of 27th Street, was actively burning nearby cars and buildings, the report said.
Engine 112 responded and was able to quickly extinguish the flames, the department wrote.
