Franklin Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Greendale Crash

He was charged with second-degree reckless homicide in connection with a drunk-driving crash that killed one person in Greendale in April.

FRANKLIN, WI β€” A Franklin man has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. The charges come after a fatal car crash that happened in Greendale on April 30.

Jeremy Franklin Waterman was charged in Milwaukee County Court on Sept 14. According to the criminal complaint, Waterman was driving intoxicated when he crashed into a car at West Loomis Road and 68th Street.

The crash happened in the early evening of April 30. According to the complaint, witnesses told police they saw a BMW, which Waterman was driving, speed past at 100 mph from Rawson onto Loomis. As the BMW approached 68th Street, another car inched into the intersection. Waterman collided with the car, according to the criminal complaint.

The lone occupant of the other vehicle, a man from Franklin, died after the crash. First responders attempted to get the victim out of his GMC, but he showed no signs of life and died at the scene, the complaint said.

In questioning with police after the accident, the complaint says that Waterman admitted he drank "two or three" beers at noon, and smoked marijuana at 9 a.m. that day. He told police he did not believe he was impaired, and the last thing he remembered was traveling 10 mph over the speed limit, the complaint said.

Waterman faces charges of up to 25 years in jail. His driver's license could also be revoked for five years. He posted bail Wednesday and is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 29.
