Friday morning a man carjacked another man on the 1700 block of 26th Street.

He kidnapped the driver and drove to the Walmart at 27th and Holt, went inside the store, and then returned to the car. The man then drove the vehicle he carjacked, along with the man he kidnapped, to three stores in the area.

Police arrived to the call and a pursuit ensued. Speeds of over 110 mph were recorded in the pursuit, Oak Creek Police Department said.

During that pursuit, the stolen car crashed. The man jumped out of the wrecked car and carjacked another person nearby, promptly continuing the police pursuit, Lucas said in the news conference.

That second carjacking ended in another crash. Police from multiple agencies shot the man then attempted to save his life, Lucas said. The man was pronounced deadβ€” Milwaukee County Medical Examiner plans an autopsy on the dead man Monday.

Franklin Police Department Chief Oliva said it is "disturbing to see the level of violence," and attributed it in part to recent "attitudes against law enforcement."

A witness told FOX6 news, "All of a sudden we saw a vehicle coming out of this parking lot going like 80 to 100 miles per hour down 27th Street and then all of a sudden you heard them hit like two or three cars. Cop cars started following them and then gunshots were fired. A lot of gunshots were fired – and I don't know it was just crazy."
