Today's riddle: What is the longest word in the dictionary? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. GBAPS prepares to welcome students to new Starr Elementary (gopresstimes.com) — A brand-new Starr Elementary is opening in the Green Bay Area Public School District this fall, consolidating students from the closed Kennedy, Keller, and MacArthur schools into one efficient K-5 campus. The one-story building emphasizes accessibility, safety-focused pod layouts, and energy efficiency, and includes extras like a maker space, outdoor classroom, and a Bart and Cherry Starr Community Room for broader community use.
2. A celebration of creativity, community and culture (gopresstimes.com) — Downtown Green Bay's ArtFest returns this weekend, Aug. 22–23, bringing more than 100 local, regional and national artists, live music, food and hands-on art activities to the city's core. Visitors can browse the art fair, join an interactive Experience Art Zone, and help paint a collaborative mural on the Pine Street Parking Ramp that will remain as a permanent downtown installation.
3. Neville Museum's accreditation at risk amid director vacancy (nbc26.com) — Leadership uncertainty at Green Bay's Neville Public Museum is putting its accreditation at risk, as Brown County officials restart the search for a permanent director. After dropping a proposed merger with the Children's Museum of Green Bay, supervisors now want a leader who can expand exhibits, attract young visitors, and build new community partnerships using extra space in the building.
4. Welfare check in Green Bay ends in police shooting; police say suspect brandished firearm (wtaq.com) — Green Bay police say an officer shot a suspect who brandished a firearm during a welfare check Friday afternoon on Boland Road near Fleet Farm. That stretch of Boland is closed for several hours, though police report no ongoing threat to the public as state investigators review the shooting and the involved officer is placed on standard leave.
