1. Vantage Group reveals plans for Green Bay airport (nbc26.com) — Green Bay's Austin Straubel International Airport is under new management, and Vantage Group is promising more flights, better amenities and a smoother passenger experience. Leaders are reviewing everything from security checkpoints to land development around the airport, saying potential new routes, larger planes and added jobs could follow as they seek community input on what travelers want most.
2. $10,000 matching gift boosts Green Bay Safe Place Parking program (fox11online.com) — A Green Bay nonprofit, Wise Women Gathering Place, just received a $10,000 matching gift to help sustain its Safe Place Parking program, which offers secure overnight parking for people sleeping in their cars. With 46 spots, restrooms, power access and connections to food, laundry and housing resources, the group is halfway to its $60,000 goal and inviting the community to learn more at a Sept. 30 open house.
3. Wisconsin recycling program wins national award for K-12 book (wbay.com) — Students in Green Bay and across Brown County are using an award-winning local book, "The ABC's of Recycling Right," created by the Tri-County Recycling Partnership. Hundreds of copies went to every public and private school in Brown, Outagamie and Winnebago counties, and a new "Recycle Write Trunks" kit is coming to Winnebago middle schools.
4. More Wisconsin after-school programs now offer STEM activities (wbay.com) — If you're looking for STEM-focused after-school options in Green Bay, local programs are rapidly expanding. The Greater Green Bay Boys and Girls Club, YMCA and Green Bay Area Public Schools now weave hands-on science and technology into clubs at dozens of sites, though leaders admit access still isn't universal for every family that wants a spot.
