Green Bay, Wis. (Oct. 18, 2021) - Current Young Professionals (CYP), a program of the Greater Green Bay Chamber, has announced four presenters for the upcoming fall 2021 Support Of Urban Projects (SOUP) dinner.

Greater Green Bay SOUP is a creative and collaborative approach toward crowdfunding local urban projects. The SOUP dinner will be hosted at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley on Thursday, Nov. 11, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Registration is $10 per attendee, which goes towards funding the micro-grant.

The presenters for the fall 2021 SOUP include: 

  • Community Art Wall presented by Brooke Hafs. To help flourish creativity in Greater Green Bay, On Broadway is looking to install a community art wall in the Broadway District for artists or community members to come and practice their artwork on a large scale. This would be another way to bring public art to the community, which helps create clean, safe and attractive spaces for people. Funding from the micro-grant would go to the building of the free-standing wall and allow On Broadway to stock up on white paint for creating fresh space on the wall.  
  • Iridian Moon presented by Jesse Villwock. Iridian Moon is a free drop-in resource center held Monday nights at The Artemystic; the center provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ high school teens in the Greater Green Bay area. Along with a safe area to connect with others, the center educates teens on healthy relationships, STI prevention, consent issues, self-advocacy and building confidence. Funding from the micro-grant would go to continuing to provide refreshments and resources for the teens, including menstrual care products, literature, movie nights and craft supplies.  
  • New Leaf Garden Blitz presented by Kim Diaz. New Leaf Foods, Inc., has supported the Greater Green Bay area with programs that educate consumers and improve access to healthy food, especially in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Since 2014, the Garden Blitz project has promoted the benefits of urban food gardening by installing garden boxes to help families grow their own food. Funding from the micro-grant would go towards supplies and equipment for garden box building. 
  • Service League Back-to-School Store presented by Heather Milbach. Hosted by the Service League of Green Bay at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, the Back-to-School Store is a unique service event offered to children from low-income families in Brown County. The event provides school supplies that children need to start the school year at no cost to the families. Funding from the micro-grant would go towards purchasing and stocking up the inventory of school supplies for the event. 

    • The winning project micro-grant is funded by the Volunteer Center of Brown County and Alive & Kickin’ Pizza Crust and through attendees’ registration. The soup dinner is provided by Bay Motel & Family Restaurant, Biebel’s Catering & Rental, The Booyah Shed, The Marq Catering & Banquet and White Dog Green Bay; bread is provided by Great Harvest Bread Company.
