Packers Continue Crazy 20-Year Streak In Week 2

One NFL team has avoided it since 2007. Sunday put that in serious doubt.

GREEN BAY, WI — The Green Bay Packers' streak of avoiding an 0-2 start is now 20 seasons long.

DraftKings pointed it out on X after Green Bay's 20-17 overtime win over the New York Jets on Sunday. "20 straight seasons. Not a single 0-2 start," the sportsbook wrote, adding that the Packers are the only team in the NFL that has not started a season 0-2 at any point in the last 20 years.

The streak was in real danger. After a 39-22 loss at Minnesota in Week 1, the Packers trailed the Jets 17-7 with 11 minutes left.

They rallied to force overtime, and Trey Smack's 26-yard field goal won it.

Starting 0-2 rarely ends well. Since 1970, only about 11 percent of teams that began a season that way have reached the playoffs, according to NBC News.
