Area Students Get 'Hands-On' Skilled Trades Day
The hands-on day is designed to help close the skilled labor gap by giving students hands-on experience with the latest trades.

GREENDALE, WI — Students from area school districts of Franklin, Greendale, Greenfield, Muskego, Oak Creek, and Whitnall will be engaging in a hands-on trades experience on Tuesday, Nov. 13, beginning at 8:15 a.m.
The event, held by the Milwaukee Building & Construction Trades Council and the AFL-CIO, will be held at Whitnall High School, 5000 South 116th Street, Greenfield, as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2018: Nov. 12 - 18, 2018.
The hands-on day is designed to help close the skilled labor gap by giving students hands-on experience and helping them learn about career opportunities available to them in the construction industry.

Dan Bukiewicz, president of the Milwaukee Building & Construction Trades Council, said he is looking forward to the event: “Students do not have to travel far after high school to find fulfilling careers with upward mobility. College may not be for everybody, and by
providing this experience to high school students, we can attract more students to the construction industry," he said in a statement to Patch.
