Is It Time For A Universal Abortion Registery

It is time to step up and protect the newly born.

As light is shed on the recent massacre of children at an abortion clinic in Philadelphia, it would appear it may be time to take this issue seriously and consider the options.  This clinic was able to have young women give birth to live children and then under the assumption it was still abortion, take the life of that child.  Action must be taken to ensure this disposal of human life is avoided at all cost.  Therefore, the question must be asked, is it time to create a universal abortion registry?  This registry would be established to track and monitor the use of abortions, the qualifications of the those performing the abortions and control the standards by which abortions are practiced.

The first portion, monitoring the use of abortions, would include all the patient information and the status of the pregnancy at the time of the abortion.  To ensure that abortion laws, with respect to late term abortions, are not violated, this information would be crucial to protect the public from possible infanticide.  It also gives investigators the ability to backtrack through patient lists if a doctor is accused of poor abortion practices.  Lastly, provides security to women who might find guilt, and therefore become traumatized, to know that the baby they tried to kill in utero was actually killed post birth.

The second portion, registering the qualifications of those performing abortions, grants public the knowledge that every doctor practicing abortions is registered with the US government.  This awareness ensures that no doctor will use his skills of abortion on children after birth; while, also adhering to the proper gestation dates to prevent late term abortions.  Patients using a registered doctor will be taking steps towards their own safety as these will be government approved abortions cites.

The final portion of the registry is designed to establish proper government standards for abortion.  It is obvious in the Gosnell clinic that the standards for abortions were well below par.  This is insulting for a leading industrial nation to have such little oversight on abortion.  Upon implementation of this registry, every clinic nationwide becomes subject to government inspection.  We must not let substandard abortion practices harm our women and children.

Some will challenge the privacy aspect of this; however, not putting in a safeguard such as this could lead to more Gosnell killing clinics.  Do we really want to be a society that history will assume turned a blind eye to infanticide?  Are those born in this country no longer worth protecting?  Those born in this country are sheltered by its laws, it is time to set up a system by which the government can truly monitor their birth after their parents have attempted to kill them.
