Father's Day 2017: 'Manmosas,' Bloody Marys and More

MILWAUKEE, WI — The Botanical Gardens official caterer, Zilli Hospitality Group will offer a special Father’s Day brunch, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. In addition to the popular Bloody Mary Bar, this year’s menu includes “Man-mosas.”

Entrees feature Panko-Encrusted Salmon, Chef-Carved Bacon-Wrapped Pork Loin, Parmesan-Encrusted Chicken, Chef-Carved Bourbon-and-Coke Marinated Sirloin. Specialty stations include made-to-order omelets, breakfast items, salads, sides, and desserts. Reservations and pricing are available at zillihospitalitygroup.com/sunday-brunch-at-boerner.

About a dozen military vehicles will be on display at Boerner Botanical Gardens on Father’s Day, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Members of the Midwest Military Vehicle Association will show their restored, as well as unrestored, former military-transportation vehicles—from a Vietnam-Era ambulance to large-tracked, armored military vehicles.

“This event offers a rare opportunity to see these large vehicles and, of course, to celebrate Dad!” Gardens Director Shirley Walczak said.

Visitors may want to arrive early or stay late to discover early summer blooms. The Botanical Gardens are open from 8 a.m.–dusk. Flowering trees, daylilies, and roses will be in full bloom.

Regular admission to the Botanical Gardens is $5.50 for adults age 18 and up; $4.50 for students of any age with IDs, Milwaukee County seniors age 60 and up with IDs, and people with disabilities; and $3.50 for youths age 6–17.
